How Zika Virus Transmit?

Up to 35% Off Select Outdoor Women's Clothing

Through mosquito bites

Books that Inspire
Zika virus is transmitted to people primarily through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. These are the same mosquitoes that spread dengue and chikungunya viruses.
  • These mosquitoes typically lay eggs in and near standing water in things like buckets, bowls, animal dishes, flower pots and vases.  They prefer to bite people, and live indoors and outdoors near people.
    • Mosquitoes that spread chikungunya, dengue, and Zika are aggressive daytime biters. They can also bite at night.
  • Mosquitoes become infected when they feed on a person already infected with the virus. Infected mosquitoes can then spread the virus to other people through bites.

Rarely, from mother to child

  • A mother already infected with Zika virus near the time of delivery can pass on the virus to her newborn around the time of birth, but this is rare.
  • It is possible that Zika virus could be passed from mother to fetus during pregnancy. This mode of transmission is being investigated.
  • To date, there are no reports of infants getting Zika virus through breastfeeding. Because of the benefits of breastfeeding, mothers are encouraged to breastfeed even in areas where Zika virus is found.

Through infected blood or sexual contact

  • Spread of the virus through blood transfusion and sexual contact have been reported in present.

How Zika Virus Could affect Pregnant Women

Zika Virus & Pregnancy

Fashion - New York Fashion Week Men's

The full spectrum outcomes that might be associated with Zika virus infections during pregnancy is unknown and requires further investigation.
Zika virus disease is similar to that in the general population.  No evidence exists to suggest that pregnant women are more susceptible or experience more severe disease during pregnancy. It is not known if pregnant women are more susceptible to Guillain-BarrĂ© syndrome.
There have been reports of congenital microcephaly in babies of mothers who were infected with Zika virus while pregnant. Zika virus infections have been confirmed in several infants with microcephaly; it is not known how many of the microcephaly cases are associated with Zika virus infection. Studies are under way to investigate the association of Zika virus infection and microcephaly, including the role of other contributory factors (e.g., prior or concurrent infection with other organisms, nutrition, and environment).

pregnant women in any trimester should consider postponing travel to an area where Zika virus transmission is ongoing. If a pregnant women is considering travel to one of these areas, she should talk to her healthcare provider. If she travels, she should strictly follow steps to avoid mosquito bites during the trip.

Pregnant women with a history of travel to an area with Zika virus transmission and who report two or more symptoms consistent with Zika virus disease (including acute onset of fever, maculopapular rash, arthralgia or conjunctivitis) during or within two weeks of travel should be tested. In addition, pregnant women with a history of travel to an area with Zika virus transmission and who have ultrasound findings of fetal microcephaly or intracranial calcifications should also be tested for Zika virus infection.  Testing should be performed in consultation with state or local health departments.

What is a Router & its Types? Easy Explanation

What is a Router?

Before we indulge into the world of routers, you need to understand what a broadband connection is and how it works. According to Dictionary.com, broadband is "a high-speed, high-capacity transmission medium that can carry signals from multiple independent network carriers. This is done on a single coaxial or fiber-optic cable by establishing different bandwidth channels. Broadband technology can support a wide range of frequencies. It is used to transmit data, voice and video over long distances simultaneously."
Routers take information that arrives through your broadband signal via a modem, decipher it, and deliver it to your computer. The router will also choose the best route for the data packet so that you receive the information quickly.
Many different types of routers have been developed so that the information coming over your broadband connection can be sent to a variety of different receivers including your computer, your phone, and others.

Types of Routers

There are several types of routers that you will want to understand. You need to know the difference so that you can set up your network or at least so that you can understand what the local computer guy tells you to do.

Broadband Routers

Broadband routers can be used to do several different types of things. They can be used to connect two different computers or to connect two computers to the Internet. They can also be used to create a phone connection.
If you are using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology, then you will need a broadband router to connect your Internet to your phone. These are often a special type of modem that will have both Ethernet and phone jacks. Although this may seem a little confusing, simply follow the instructions that your VoIP provider sends with your broadband router - usually you must purchase the router from the company in order to obtain the service.

Wireless Routers

Wireless routers connect to your modem and create a wireless signal in your home or office. So, any computer within range can connect to your wireless router and use your broadband Internet for free. The only way to keep anyone from connecting to your system is to secure your router.
A word of warning about wireless routers: Be sure your secure them, or you will be susceptible to hackers and identity thieves. In order to secure your router, you simply need to come to WhatIsMyIPAddress.com, and get your IP address. Then, you'll type that into your web browser and log into your router (the user ID and password will come with your router).
Remember to change the router ID and password as well or someone else might lock you out of your system.
Once there, visit the wireless settings, type in a security key and you'll be about ready to go. Make sure you write down the key or save it in a Word document. When you try to log onto your Internet connection, you'll just need to enter the key. Your computer should remember the key, but write it down somewhere for safe keeping just in case.

What is a Network Router?

Network Router

In packet-switched networks such as the Internet, a router is a device or, in some cases, software in a computer, that determines the next network point to which a packet should be forwarded toward its destination.

The router is connected to at least two networks and decides which way to send each information packet based on its current understanding of the state of the networks it is connected to. A router is located at any gateway (where one network meets another), including each point-of-presence on the Internet. A router is often included as part of a network switch.

A router may create or maintain a table of the available routes and their conditions and use this information along with distance and cost algorithms to determine the best route for a given packet. Typically, a packet may travel through a number of network points with routers before arriving at its destination. Routing is a function associated with the Network layer (layer 3) in the standard model of network programming, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. A layer-3 switch is a switch that can perform routing functions.
An edge router is a router that interfaces with an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. A brouter is a network bridge combined with a router.

For home and business computer users who have high-speed Internet connections such as cable, satellite, or DSL, a router can act as a hardware firewall. This is true even if the home or business has only one computer. Many engineers believe that the use of a router provides better protection against hacking than a software firewall, because no computer Internet Protocol address are directly exposed to the Internet. This makes port scans (a technique for exploring weaknesses) essentially impossible. In addition, a router does not consume computer resources as a software firewall does. Commercially manufactured routers are easy to install, reasonably priced, and available for hard-wired or wireless networks.

How to Choose a Convenient School Bag

How to Choose a School Bag

1
Image result for school bagsConsider your needs. Take a look at your school's supply list (if they provide you one) and its policies on bags, the textbooks you will be receiving from your school, and whether you'll be using a laptop (mostly in late high school). These factors affect the type and size of the bag you will need.
  • First of all, see what your school's rules or handbook have to say about backpacks. Certain schools do not allow rolling backpacks or messenger bags, for example, and some have specifications with regards to style or color.
  • If you have back problems or other medical needs, make sure that the type of bag you're considering getting will not cause you more trouble. Messenger bags, tote bags or other bags carried on only one shoulder may be poor choices in this situation.
  • If you will be transporting a laptop to school, record its measurements, so you can narrow down your choices of bags to ones that have a laptop pocket and ones which have the perfectly sized pocket for your mini-computer.
2
Weigh the positive attributes and the negative when selecting a bag. Here are negative examples:
  • "The bag I want to buy can't hold all my stuff!"
  • "My school/parents won't allow it."
  • "The bag is too expensive."
  • "People have been saying that it isn't durable."
  • "Everyone has one."
  • "The bag is not eye-catching."
  • "It isn't waterproof."
  • "I don't like the style!".
3
Consider all of the pros you want in your bag as well as attributes that might actually be unnecessary - and do this before going shopping. This will make your decision less stressful!
  • Other than your school supplies, what else might you carry? Middle and high school students might want to bring a makeup kit, a phone, an iPod, or projects, among other things. So, decide what goes into your bag before getting one. These things make a difference (some bags provide a device pocket in which you can carry your portable devices and listen to music).

OSAMA BIN LADEN still alive?

IS OSAMA BIN LADEN still alive?

The death of Osama bin Laden gave rise to various conspiracy theories, hoaxes, and rumors. These include the ideas that bin Laden had been dead for years, or is still alive. Doubts about bin Laden's death were fueled by the U.S. military's disposal of his body at sea,the decision to not release any photographic or DNA evidence of bin Laden's death to the public, the contradicting accounts of the incident (with the official story on the raid appearing to change or directly contradict previous assertions), and the 25-minute blackout during the raid on bin Laden's compound during which a live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the U.S. special forces was cut off.
On May 1, 2011, an image purporting to show a dead bin Laden was broadcast on Pakistani television. Though the story was picked up by much of the British press, as well the Associated Press, it was swiftly removed from websites after it was exposed as a fake on Twitter.
On May 4, the Obama administration announced it would not release any images of Bin Laden's dead body. The administration had considered releasing the photos to dispel rumors of a hoax, at the risks of perhaps prompting another attack by al Qaeda and of releasing very graphic images to people who might find them disturbing.  Several photos of the aftermath of the raid were given to Reuters by an anonymous Pakistani security official, but though all appeared to be authentic, they were taken after the U.S. forces had left and none of them included evidence regarding bin Laden's fate.
On May 6, it was reported that an al-Qaeda website acknowledged bin Laden's death. On May 11, Republican senator and Senate Armed Services Committee member Jim Inhofe stated he had viewed "gruesome" photographs of bin Laden's corpse, and later confirmed that the body "was him", adding, "He's history".
On May 21, 2015, Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published a 10,000 word report discrediting most aspects of the official account of Osama's death. Among other things, the report claims that the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had kept bin Laden under house arrest at Abbottabad since 2006, and that Pakistani Army chief Pervez Kayani and ISI director Ahmad Shuja Pasha aided the U.S. mission to kill, not capture bin Laden. Hersh's U.S. and Pakistani intelligence sources stated that the U.S. had learned of bin Laden's location through an ISI walk-in seeking the $25 million reward and not through tracking a courier; this had been previously reported by R.J. Hillhouse and was confirmed afterwards by NBC news. The White House denied Hersh's report.

Snowden, who lives as a fugitive in Russia after leaking documents about the NSA’s surveillance programs has made some previously unreported allegations about the famous terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, during an interview with the Moscow Tribune.

According to him, not only is Bin Laden still alive, but he is living a lavish lifestyle in the Bahamas, thanks to regular payments from the CIA.

“I have documents showing that Bin Laden is still on the CIA’s payroll,” claims Edward Snowden. “He is still receiving more than $100,000 a month, which are being transferred through some front businesses and organizations, directly to his Nassau bank account. I am not certain where he is now, but in 2013, he was living quietly in his villa with five of his wives and many children.”

Mr. Snowden says the CIA orchestrated the fake death of the former leader of Al Qaeda, while he was actually transported with his family in an undisclosed location in the Bahamas.

“Osama Bin Laden was one of the CIA’s most efficient operatives for a long time,” claims the famous whistleblower. “What kind of message would it send their other operatives if they were to let the SEALs kill him? They organized his fake death with the collaboration of the Pakistani Secret services, and he simply abandoned his cover. Since everyone believes he is dead, nobody’s looking for him, so it was pretty easy to disappear. Without the beard and the military jacket, nobody recognizes him.”

Mr. Snowden says that the documents proving that Bin Laden is still alive will be integrally reproduced in his new book, expected to be released in September.

Edward Snowden was hired by an NSA contractor in 2013 after previous employment with Dell and the CIA. In the month of June of the same year, he revealed thousands of classified NSA documents to journalists.

The US government filed espionage charges against him shortly after his revelations were made public. He has been living under asylum in Moscow, after fleeing the US for Hong Kong in the wake of the leaks.
On July 28 2015, the White House has rejected a “We the People” petition of nearly 168,000 signatories, to pardon him.

How to Speed Up a Slow PC?

How to Speed Up a Slow PC?

8-Ways to Speed Up your Slow PC

The great thing about PCs (non-Apple/Macintosh computers) is that they're relatively inexpensive, operate a boatload of programs and there are plenty of makers and styles to choose from. You can buy a desktop, laptop or even a combination PC/tablet. But after a while, all PCs can start to show their age and suffer some wear and tear. They can run slower, catch a bug (virus), and have problems starting up, opening programs or getting on the Internet.
You might think it's time to run out and buy another computer, but hold off just a bit. There are adjustments you can make to your system's hardware and software to help your PC run a little bit faster. And with a few tips and tweaks—maybe with assistance from a tech-savvy IT (Internet technology) friend—you can clear out your computer's cobwebs and get more speed without having to break the bank. (Except for buying a pizza for your IT friend!)
Don't be afraid! There's little you can do to break your computer, but there are a handful of things that might fix it. Start with these tips*:
  1. Change the power settings. Open up the Hardware and Sound section in the Control Panel and make sure the setting is on High Performance.
  2. Learn how to use the Resource Manager. Under the Control Panel, find the Task Manager (Windows 7, 8 and Vista). Click on the Performance tab and find your way to the Resource Monitor, which can help you find programs that are slowing down your computer.
  3. Clean up your Startup folder. A lot of programs open up every time you start up your computer (if you notice how long it takes to boot up, that's why). More than that, many programs run in the background and drain your system. There are programs that can show you what programs open at startup, and you can disable those you don't really need.
  4. Scan for malware and bugs. PCs are very susceptible to infections by malware (malicious software). Run a malware scan on your computer right away and continue to do it every few weeks. There are free malware scan programs available online.
  5. Keep Windows updated. This isn't the same as upgrading to the next Windows version (like going from Windows 7 to Windows 8). Updating your operating system means keeping the version of Windows you use current by installing official updates, which can fix known problems. It all takes place online. Go to the Control Panel and you'll find the Windows Update setting in the System and Security tab.
  6. Clear up browser extensions. If you have souped up your Internet browser with add-ons and extensions, that could cause a browser slowdown. You can go into your browser's settings and see which ones you want to keep or delete.
  7. Reboot! Sometimes simply turning off your computer for a few minutes (not simply restarting it) will magically take care of a few PC problems. You can try the same tip with your router and modem if you're ever having trouble connecting to the Internet.
  8. Clean the computer's internal fan. When a desktop computer overheats, it can slow down and ultimately crash. Overheating is caused by blocked air vents or too much dust and debris on the fan. It's easy to remove the back panel and, using a can of compressed air, blow out the dust. See if that helps. It's also a good tip for preventing overheating in the first place.

What are The Best Search Engines of 2016!

The Best Search Engines of 2016!

Most people don't want three dozen search engines, especially people who are not trained internet users. Most people want a single search engine that delivers three key features:
  1. Relevant results  (results you are actually interested in)
  2. Uncluttered, easy to read interface
  3. Helpful options to broaden or tighten a search
  4. With this criteria, several Reader Favorite Search Engines come to mind. These 11 search sites should meet 99% of the searching needs of a regular everyday user.

  1. 1.     Dogpile Search
  2.       Years ago, Dogpile preceded Google as the fast and efficient choice for web searching. Things changed in the late 1990's, Dogpile faded into obscurity, and Google became king. But today, Dogpile is coming back, with a growing index and a clean and quick presentation that is testimony to its halcyon days.  If you want to try a search tool with pleasant presentation and helpful crosslink results, definitely try Dogpile!

  1. 2.     Yippy Search
  2.       Yippy is a Deep Web engine that searches other search engines for you. Unlike the regular Web, which is indexed by robot spider programs, Deep Web pages are usually harder to locate by conventional search. That's where Yippy becomes very useful. If you are searching for obscure hobby interest blogs, obscure government information, tough-to-find obscure news, academic research and otherwise-obscure content, then Yippy is your tool.

  1. 3.     Bing Search
  2.       Bing is Microsoft's attempt at unseating Google, and arguably the second-most-popular search engine today. Bing used to be MSN search until it was updated in summer of 2009. Touted as a 'decision engine', Bing tries to support your researching by offering suggestions in the leftmost column, while also giving you various search options across the top of the screen. Things like 'wiki' suggestions, 'visual search', and 'related searches' might be very useful to you.

  1. 4.     Duck Duck Go Search
  2.       At first, DuckDuckGo.com looks like Google. But there are many subtleties that make this spartan search engine different. DuckDuckGo has some slick features, like 'zero-click' information (all your answers are found on the first results page). DuckDuckgo offers disambiguation prompts (helps to clarify what question you are really asking). And the ad spam is much less than Google. Give DuckDuckGo.com a try.

  1. 5.     Google Scholar Search
  2.       Google Scholar is a special version of Google.  This search engine will help you win debates.
You see, Google Scholar focuses on scientific and hard-research academic material that has been subjected to scrutiny by scientists and scholars. Example content includes:  graduate theses, legal and court opinions, academic publications, medical research reports, physics research papers, and economics and world politics explanations.
  3. 6.     Ask.com Search

  4.       The Ask search engine is a longtime name on the World Wide Web. The super-clean interface rivals the other major search engines, and the search options are as good as Google or Bing or DuckDuckGo. The results groupings are what really make Ask.com stand out. The presentation is arguably cleaner and easier to read than Google or Yahoo! or Bing, and the results groups seem to be more relevant. Decide for yourself if you agree.

  5. 7.     Mahalo 'Learn Anything' Search

  6.       Mahalo is the one 'human-powered' search site in this list, employing a committee of editors to manually sift and vet thousands of pieces of content.  This means that you'll get fewer Mahalo hit results than you will get at Bing or Google. But it also means that most Mahalo results have a higher quality of content and relevance (as best as human editors can judge).
Mahalo also offers regular web searching in addition to asking questions.
  7. 8.     Webopedia Search

  8.       Webopedia is one of the most useful websites on the World Wide Web. Webopedia is an encyclopedic resource dedicated to searching techno terminology and computer definitions. Teach yourself what 'domain name system' is, or teach yourself what 'DDRAM' means on your computer. Webopedia is absolutely a perfect resource for non-technical people to make more sense of the computers around them.

  9. 9.     Yahoo! Search (and More)

  10.        Yahoo! is several things: it is a search engine, a news aggregator, a shopping center, an emailbox, a travel directory, a horoscope and games center, and more. This 'web portal' breadth of choice makes this a very helpful site for Internet beginners. Searching the Web should also be about discovery and exploration, and Yahoo! delivers that in wholesale quantities.

  11. 10.    The Internet Archive Search

  12.         The Internet Archive is a favorite destination for longtime Web lovers. The Archive has been taking snapshots of the entire World Wide Web for years now, allowing you and me to travel back in time to see what a web page looked like in 1999, or what the news was like around Hurricane Katrina in 2005. You won't visit the Archive daily, like you would Google or Yahoo or Bing, but when you do have need to travel back in time, use this search site.

  13. 11.    Google Search

  14.           Google is the reigning king of 'spartan searching', and is the single most used search engine in the world. While it doesn't offer all the shopping center features of Yahoo! or the human curation of Mahalo, Google is fast, relevant, and the largest single catalogue of web pages available today.
Make sure you try the Google 'images', 'maps' and 'news' features... they are outstanding services for locating photos, geographic directions, and news headlines.
